Central Sterile Service Center (CSSD)

At Ninewells, we deeply care about the safety and the well-being of our patients, visitors and staff alike. Therefore we take every possible precaution to prevent the spread of infections by keeping our hospital environment healthy and free of harmful microorganisms.

Included in Ninewells as one of the main measures to maintain the cleanliness of the hospital, is a Central Sterile Service Center (CSSD). Through the CSSD, medical devices, consumables and equipment within the hospital premises are sterilized where all microorganisms, including bacterial spores are destroyed. The Central Sterile Service Center at Ninewells is committed to accomplish the recommendations of WHO by preserving the hospital environment germ-free.

In addition, as a pioneer in the women and child care hospitals in Sri Lanka, Ninewells is dedicated to create a hygienic atmosphere especially in the operating theatres, labour rooms, and wards.
